Nurses, Nursing Education, and Nursing Workforce: Definitions


G. NURSE SUPPLY TERMINOLOGY

  1. Nurse Population. All RNs and LPN/VNs who have a current license to practice in the United States or one of its territories and who are either employed or reside in the United States or one of its territories.

  2. State Nurse Population. All RNs and LPN/VNs having a current license to practice within that state or territory. (Note: This excludes mutual compact agreement.)

  3. Supply of Nurses. All RNs and/or LPN/VNs employed in nursing on a full-time or part-time basis.

  4. State Supply of Nurses. All RNs and/or LPN/VNs employed in nursing in that state or territory on a full-time or part-time basis.
